The Wood Oven.
We had been thinking of putting a pizza oven on the patio for a while and after some research in to different types clay / brick, dome / barrel and then looking at the price of kits we decided to design and build our own. the final decision was a brick oven and the shape would be a dome or igloo. So these pages are going to be about the design and build the finished wood oven and then all the great things you can do with it, OK I know what your thinking yes cooking but everybody just thinks pizza but there are other things you can cook and you can also do things like roast coffee beans.
There is quite a bit of content to this part of the site so I am going to try and split it up to make it easier to look at the different aspects of the whole project.
Then there are all the pictures and video I have taken during the build, I Will put all of these in the picture and video gallery's and then they will be split up around the pages here, all the pages can be accessed from the menu at the top of the page.
There will also a some information on how I did it and where I found out anything I needed to know.
You do need to be pretty spot on with this as when the oven is fired up it will reach temperatures in excess of 500 Degrees Centigrade yes that's right 500C you can make glass go soft in this oven.
OK so there are some videos I put together when I was building the oven, there OK but I had a slight accident with the laptop right at the start of the project, it fell of the wood box when I was cutting the fence and self-destructed, I managed to get it back together and working but in the end it decided enough was enough and failed before I finished the oven, so does just go to pictures in some parts.

All the links to other websites can be found on the link page along with a lot of other links to sites.
I have cooked a lot more stuff in the oven and must say a rack of pork ribs slow cooked for around 6 hours after being marinated overnight or a shoulder of pork, well my words cannot explain how divine they are. Also now I am used to or should say getting more used to cooking in the oven and learning how the temperature works and where to put stuff so it does not get cremated in seconds, I am starting to produce some nice meals and for making bread well its great. Anyway take a look around hope you like and if you want more information just drop us an E-Mail.
